Ampegs are notoriously "not worth" paying someone to fix. They rarely cost over $250, and an amp tech can come close to charging that, if things go sideways. And risking the 50 bucks or so bench fee is usually not worth it. So they collect dust, because who would buy one?
In this case, we bought it. The seller was asking for about half the worth of a great one, so we expected some TLC was needed.
It sounds unusually well for the price. The only issues are the bass pot seems to kick in more near the end, and playing a low "A" will cause static. Since it's only that way in a certain frequency, I'm guessing a broken solder joint (bass amps are notorious for these - the vibrations break the lead-free solder joints).
So tomorrow, we'll will look at the back of the board (it's all solid state), and see if we can find the culprits.
Once running right, you can likely buy it thru Guitarma. And since it was just serviced, you wont need to invest any more money into it for a long while.
