Amp arrived with right channel out, & transistor Q703 (bias) removed.
Diode CR 701 was sus (they usually burn, and take other components with them. But it was OK.
A 3.3ohm resistor was reading 6 (replaced).
Ordered new driver (Q703). Good news is they are 70 cents each. Bad news is it's 8 bucks shipping.
Swapped out the resistor & driver on the right channel. It sounds clear. But the left channels is "farty” (another technical term). Will pull the transistors & test them (there are seven of them... this could take a while).
OK, all tested, and sure enough one resister is blown, one is out of spec, and the Q710 driver transistor is blown. All others tested OK. waiting on client approval to proceed.
All parts are in and installed. New cord (with ground) made a great difference. Bias is to be between 8-13 mv. Right is 10.0 and left is 10.1
Sounds alright for a 50 year old kit.
Awaiting pickup
Q710. This should not be zero….
